Xavier was 13—funny, loud, sweet, and full of life. His passing broke our hearts and began a mission.
In honor of Xavier Thompson, we advocate for medical preparedness in schools so no child is left without help in a medical emergency.
We work to raise awareness and push for mandatory medical emergency drills, proper response protocols, and access to lifesaving equipment—because when seconds matter, preparation saves lives.
We also stand for accountability and justice for children and families affected by preventable tragedies.
When you give, you honor Xavier and help protect another child.

Xavier's Story

Xavier was so excited he made the 8th grade basketball team. This video was taken the day before he tragically passed away.

Only hours before his passing, Xavier shared a message that now stands as part of his legacy:
“Trust in God.”

Children with asthma are not “weak” — they are fighters who deserve safety, awareness, and support.

Meet Brittany Thompson
Founder of Breathe for Xavier | Mother of Xavier
My name is Brittany Thompson, and I am the mother of Xavier Thompson.
Xavier was only 13 years old when he passed away during his first basketball practice. He was vibrant, full of life, deeply loved, and endlessly important. His passing shattered my world—but it also awakened a calling I never asked for and cannot ignore.
I am a mother, a former school counselor, and the founder of Breathe for Xavier, a nonprofit created in honor of my son’s life and legacy. What began as unbearable grief has transformed into purpose: to advocate for child safety, medical preparedness, accountability, and awareness—so that other families never experience a loss like ours.
I share Xavier’s story not for attention, but for truth.
Not for sympathy, but for change.
Not from bitterness, but from faith.
I believe God wastes nothing—not even pain. And I believe Xavier’s life continues to matter through every breath taken in his name.

Speaking & Advocacy
I speak because silence helps no one.
I share Xavier’s story to raise awareness around asthma and youth sports, and to advocate for accountability and justice—so that children and families are better informed, protected, and supported.

-
Advocating for mandatory medical emergency drills in schools, so staff are trained and ready to respond without delay
-
Asthma and youth sports
